Run agent button not working for my user

I have an agent user who has run agent access to two agents, and when he presses the run button for either, he is sent back to the run history screen without the agent running. No error message, but the agent won’t run. He has tried on various browsers and different hardware - Mac, iPhone, iPad, same result. I have no issue running the agents as normal on my Mac. Any advice?

Hi @jebdasteel,

Thanks for the post. Could you send me a DM with the following details, so I can look into this?

  • The email address of the user
  • The Agent ID
  • Ideally, a quick screen recording showing the steps the user takes when they get sent to the history screen

They can use this link to record their screen:

Hi Alex. Thanks so much for the assist. It’s pretty strange. He has tried different browsers, clearing his cache, different computers, WIFI vs. cell, his private run link vs. a public link… and it still doesn’t work.

User email is jeffrey.dasteel@gmail.com.

The agent ID is 2a75dae3-16f8-4170-9e5d-c7acd8d44b21

And he completed the recording and told me it was submitted.

Jeff is my brother, and you can see what he looks like by looking at the agent icon.

Thanks for the help.

Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry about your brother

I haven’t received a recording yet, though. Is there any way he can record a quick Loom instead, or capture his screen some other way?

The agent access looks like it’s set up correctly, so I’m trying to pinpoint exactly where things go wrong in the flow.

Alex, here’s the recording: iOS recording - 06 Mar 2026 | Loom. Thank you.

Hi @jebdasteel,

Thanks for the recording! Please pass the thanks to your brother as well!

I’ve reported the issue to our engineers and I’ll get back to you as soon as I have an update.

In the meantime, please invite your brother as a member to the workspace, as that should resolve the issue:
https://app.mindstudio.ai/workspace/members

Thanks Alex! I’m trying to add Jeff as a workspace member, and am having trouble doing so:

As you can see, I’ve entered a valid email address (after deleting him as a ‘guest’) and it won’t take the email.

Then, when I go to edit this particular agent, it shows Jeff as an owner, which isn’t right.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Jeb

Hi Jeb,

Thanks for the screenshots, and apologies for the inconvenience.

The invite issue seems to happen specifically right after deleting a guest and trying to send a new invite. Refreshing the page should let you send Jeff an invite:
https://app.mindstudio.ai/workspace/members

When you do, make sure to invite him as an Admin so he can edit existing agents.

As for Jeff showing up as an owner on the agent, I’ve reported that to our engineers along with the invite bug. I’ll follow up once I have an update on either.

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks Alex. I just changed Jeff’s role from member to admin. As of yesterday, with a member role, he was able to see a bunch of agents, but - oddly - not his, which are the ones that show him as the owner. So he is still stuck. Let’s see if the admin role change affects that. I will advise. Meanwhile, quick question: is the original issue with engineering as well? That was Jeff’s inability to run the agent (the original two screenshots).

Jeb

Alex, I just spoke to Jeff. He can now see his agents, but still has the exact same issue in that they won’t run at all.

Thanks for all the help.

Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience with this.

This looks like it’s account-specific. I’ve flagged it to our engineers for further review and will get back to you as soon as I have an update.

Ok. Thanks. What’s especially strange about it is that the user can’t even use a public link to run the agent. I need to get him back up and running asap. Thanks for the help.

Hey Alex. Any update on this? Jeff still can’t run this agent at all. Thanks.

Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

We’ve created a copy of that agent. Can you ask Jeff to follow the link below and let me know if he’s able to edit it?
https://app.mindstudio.ai/agents/8cfe64b8-4073-4860-8165-d34afb2ff557/edit

Also, are there any other agents he can’t access?

Alex, Jeff just told me that he can edit and run this new copy. What do we do from here, and does the engineering team have any theories on what the issue has been?

As always, thanks a bunch.

BTW, I sent Dmitry a Slack DM telling him how great last Friday’s session was. I consider myself reasonably advanced on concepts, and he still hit the perfect tone.

Jeb

Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

Glad to hear Jeff can now edit the new Agent!

For now, the new copy is the one to use, and he should be able to create and edit other agents. We’re still investigating what caused the original agent to behave this way, but if anything similar comes up again with Jeff or any other users, please flag it here, and we’ll get on it right away.

Thanks again for your patience with this one!

Thank you, Alex. Here’s where we are right now: The copy you pointed us to is the “Copy of Updated…” agent. It shows Jeff as the owner (which isn’t right), and he has access to it, but I don’t. I need to be able to run and edit it, and I can’t. When I click into it via either RUN or EDIT, I see it for a flash, and am then taken to the home/learn page. Any further guidance from the engineering team? Jeff can at least run it, but I can’t maintain it for him.

Again, thanks.

Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

Sorry about that! The agent’s access was set to Private, so only Jeff was able to edit it. We’ve updated the access setting, so you should now be able to access and edit it.

Let me know if there’s anything else.

Thanks Alex! There’s still something weird going on. While, this screen shows me as the owner, the screenshot below this one shows Jeff as the owner.
Screenshot 1: The owner is me.

Screenshot 2: Shows Jeff as the owner, which should not be the case.

Then when I go to roles in the admin panel, the MindStudio app shows Jeff as the admin, which I can’t seem to change. When I try to change it and then refresh, it’s back to admin. And I can’t change my role at all, obviously because the account now has Jeff as the admin. That’s of course a big issue for my in trying to manage my account, workspace, and agents. I should be the admin and Jeff should be just a member/user. This agent, and all the others in my account were created by me.

Screenshot 3: Roles are wrong.

Can you advise on how to unscramble all this?

Thanks.
Jeb

Hi @jebdasteel,

Here’s how to fix this:

  1. Create a copy of the agent (this will set you as the owner):

(Optional): delete all other copies of the Agent to avoid confusion

  1. Go to Team settings and change Jeff’s role from Admin to Member:
    https://app.mindstudio.ai/workspace/members

Please note that Members can run agents in your workspace, but don’t have editing access. Just to clarify, the role hierarchy is: Owner > Admin > Member > Guest. You’re currently an Owner and can’t downgrade to a lower role.

Since you mentioned the role change isn’t sticking, could you record that behavior? It’ll help us take a closer look:
